"Ben Gernon opened the evening program with a crisp, colorful interpretation of Mozart's Symphony No. 31. Nuanced phrasing, constant attention to delicate layering of instrumental timbres, as well as wonderful dynamic contrasts, from very soft to very full, were part of a delightful interpretation that worked extremely well in the old hall. Gernon and the players moved on to Stravinsky's Symphony in C, mixing energy, sophistication and constant attention to structural and musical detail into a thoroughly involving performance.”
